BSC. HONS. BIOKINETICS. (WITS)
I grew up being involved in a number of sports, from gymnastics to track and field, ballet, baseball, MMA and cheerleading. I was always the first child taking the warm ups, teaching new skills or lending a helping hand when someone fell off the beam. So naturally, my path led me to a field which involved a combination of sporting, training, injury rehab and movement knowledge.
I graduated from Wits University in 2010, with an Undergraduate and Postgraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Biokinetics. In 2011 I started working for the Lions Cricket team, who then introduced me to my now mentor and colleague, Dr Wayne Borowsky.
The following year, the Claudia Dos Santos Biokinetics Practice was born. I also became the Johannesburg based therapist for the Proteas Cricket Team, and have had the privilege of treating them for a number of years with some “guest appearances” from the New Zealand, Pakistan and West Indie teams.
Fast forward 5 years, I am part of a phenomenal multi-disciplinary healing team, continue to work on exceptional athletes and am privileged to help change a number of peoples’ quality of life. The skills and knowledge I’ve gained by working closely with Dr Wayne Borowsky, Dr Marco Maruggi and Mrs Peta Cline-Feigin is immeasurable.
My journey has been a series of doors closing so others may open, setting pretty high goals and achieving them while meeting amazing people along the way. My job is my calling, and I have deep gratitude of how the Universe has guided me through my career journey.
My approach to treatment is individuality, correcting the cause of the injury and developing a conscious awareness of your body. After going to Biokinetics, each person should have an understanding of how to help themselves.
B.A. SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY (U.J.)
B.A. HONS. BIOKINETICS (U.J.)
I grew up in a sporting family and was always involved in sport throughout school and university. I have always had an alternate view on life and the way the physical, psychological and metaphysical work hand in hand.
I graduated from the University of Johannesburg in 2013 with an undergraduate in Sports Psychology and Honors in Biokinetics. I have further studied alternative forms of healing, which I include in my practice, to gain a further understanding of one’s situation at hand. I have worked with many different athletes ranging from novice to elite performers. My main passion is to work with sporting teams in both rehabilitation and high performance situations.
I believe that injuries and chronic illness affect an individual beyond the physical. The Biokineticist must help the individual overcome an injury, by providing them with the skills to process and heal from an injury, both emotionally and physically. I further believe that an individualized treatment program is an essential part of injury management and prevention, and a holistic approach is the key in the treatment of any injury and improvement of quality of life.
